A Program for Success
Girls are referred to The Friendship Club by school teachers and counselors, social workers and community members. Girls who join the club come from a variety of challenging backgrounds, but they are all interested in making the most of their futures and want to receive guidance and support in pursuit of their goals.
The cornerstone of The Friendship Club is the after school program. The girls gather weekly with our staff of credentialed teachers who engage them in lessons, supervise homework and provide emotional support. Girls have access to a computer lab where they become technologically proficient, and they participate in monthly educational field trips and seminars. Volunteers are recruited to help support these activities as tutors, drivers, chaperones and guest speakers.
Summer brings a host of new opportunities and exciting activities that keep the girls active and engaged. There is a summer camp for each age group, a weekly reading club, sports and art clinics and community service opportunities. Check back to see our Summer 2014 Summer Clinic Schedule!

Girls in The Friendship Club are carefully matched with mentors in the community. Some mentors work with girls on short-term projects to explore specific areas of interest, while “Friendship Angels” mentor girls for their entire time in the program.
The Friendship Club is proud to be a member of the Sierra Mentoring Partnership whose mission is to build bridges between a caring community and children in need through safe and effective mentoring programs.
The most important thing The Friendship Club did was to give me hope when I felt hopeless. You have turned my life around. - Friendship Club Girl
